Teddy's Favorite Thing Is A Derringer Award Finalist

Word comes today that my debut short story -- "Teddy's Favorite Thing" -- is a finalist for the 2024 Derringer Award in the Flash Fiction category.

The Short Mystery Fiction Society has awarded the annual Derringers -- named after the pocket pistol -- to outstanding short mystery stories since 1998.

Also on the ballot in the Flash Fiction category are "Sleep Rough" by Brandon Barrows, "The Referee" by C.W. Blackwell, "To Whom It May Concern" by Serena Jayne, and "Supply Chains" by Andrew Welsh-Huggins.

I am delighted and proud that the members of the SMFS -- who are all writers and enthusiasts of short mystery fiction -- have selected my work for recognition with these accomplished authors.

You can see all the nominees in the many categories considered by the Derringers at their full announcement, here.

Results of final voting will be posted on May 1, 2024.
